All the Reasons Why You Should Add Multivitamins to Your Diet

Doctors consider vitamins to be one of the most crucial and much-needed nutrients for our bodies, mainly because they help carry out almost all the important functions of our bodies, from digestion to healing, aging to boosting immunity, and much more.

However, not many people realize the importance and need for multivitamins these days. In fact, a lot of people argue that obtaining vitamins and nutrients from natural sources such as fruits and vegetables is more beneficial than taking multivitamin supplements daily. While that is true, the fact of the matter is that fruits and vegetables do not offer all the essential vitamins that we require, and the ones that do are either not easily available or very expensive.

Moreover, a lot of people cannot make the time to consume their five a day, and for them, multivitamins are a quick, easy, and cheap alternative. But, if you are still wondering why you should invest in multivitamins and add them to your daily diet, here’s why:

1.     Bleeding Gums

Bleeding gums are a very common complaint these days; so much so that people now don’t even see it as a dental problem anymore. The primary cause of bleeding and sore gums is aggressive, rough, and harsh brushing techniques. However, a deficiency of vitamin C is also a leading cause of gum bleeding and soreness. Since the human body cannot produce vitamin C on its own, you will need to look for other options. Vitamin C rich diets that consist of mainly citrus fruits, vegetables, and supplements are a good way to increase your vitamin C intake.

2.     Mouth Ulcers

More commonly referred to as canker sores, mouth ulcers are actually caused by the deficiency of vitamin B in the body. In a study conducted by nutritionists, it was discovered that about 28% of patients complaining of recurring mouth ulcers suffered from severe vitamin B1, B2, and B6 deficiencies.

To increase your vitamin B1, B2 and B6 intake, consume diets rich in meat, poultry, fish, eggs, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, all of which are full of these essential vitamins. Eating a healthy amount of these foods and taking the right supplements will ensure that your body has enough vitamin B, which means that you won’t have to deal with those pesky mouth ulcers anymore.

3.     Poor Vision

Poor vision is often the result of strained eyes and other factors where screens are involved, but doctors often associate poor vision with poor, vitamin-deficient diets. The lack of vitamin A, in particular, is responsible for causing vision problems such as night blindness. So, in order to retain your vision and improve it furthermore, take vitamin A supplements daily to increase the production of the eye pigment “rhodopsin” in your body. Not only will this help you retain your vision, but it will also improve it.

Fruits and vegetables are an excellent natural source of almost all of the daily required vitamins and nutrients, and eating these food items is good for you. But to ensure that you are not missing out any important vitamins that you might be lacking, doctors suggest taking the highest-quality vitamin supplements for added benefits and quicker results.
