Do you ever wonder what you might be doing wrong for your skin to be so bad? Do you have dull, dry skin, or maybe skin that is acne prone? Or do you struggle with stubborn dark circles and dark spots? You might be one of the many people who make the five most common mistakes in their diets.

1.     You Are Missing Your breakfast

Breakfast, as many nutritionists have established already, is the most important meal of our day. A balanced and healthy breakfast has all the key vital nutrients needed to boost us for a long, grueling day ahead of us. An early morning meal not only fuels us for the rest of the day but also keeps us glowing and radiant because of the antioxidants and nutrients that we consume. Skipping your breakfast means you will get tired quicker and more easily, you will be dehydrated, and your skin will start to get dry and patchy. In other words, you will appear dull.

2.     You’re Skipping Those Greens

If you have a habit of skipping your greens, whether it's your leafy vegetables or other plant products like peas, bell peppers, etc, it might be having its effects on you. Vegetables, especially green leafy ones, have multiple benefits. For instance, they contain vital minerals and nutrients and are high in antioxidants such as lutein and zeaxanthin, which protect the skin against skin problems like fine lines, wrinkling, sun damage, and even skin cancer.

3.     You’re Not Hydrated Enough

Keeping yourself hydrated is immensely important. Not consuming enough water, especially during hot spells and high temperatures, leads to dehydration. This has numerous implications such as muscle weakness, dry mouth, headaches, dizziness, etc. As surprising as it may sound, dehydration has its most visible effects on the skin, it makes the eyes appear sunken and makes the skin dry and flaky. To avoid such problems, it is important that we consume at least 8 glasses of water every day.

4.     Your fruits count

If, like your veggies, you miss your fruits as well, you might want to reconsider your dietary habits. Ensuring that your fruit intake is sufficient is very important for a number of reasons. Firstly, fruits help in providing our bodies with necessary added vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that our staple diet might miss. Other than providing extra supplements, fruits also help us combat our skin issues. For instance, blueberries are rich in antioxidants and thus help reduce sun damage and wrinkles; similarly, watermelon helps prevent signs of aging.

5.     Fats Can Be Healthy, Too

Contrary to popular belief, fats are actually an important component of a healthy and well-balanced diet. Many people cut out fats from their diets completely, in the hope of losing weight and consuming fewer calories. The fact is, healthy fats are a thing, and they are extremely vital. Food items like avocadoes and fish are packed with omega 3 fatty acids. These fats help our skin look smooth and supple and protect our skin against harmful UV rays. The vitamin E present in these foods helps to fight aging signs like wrinkles, fine lines, and uneven skin tones.

We hope that after reading these articles, you will be more conscious when eating and avoid making any of the mistakes mentioned above.
